Introduction
Loretta Chao (趙樂甯) is a China correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, covering technology, youth culture and lifestyle out of Beijing. Prior to this post, she wrote about a wide range of topics from travel to fashion to workplace issues for the Journal. She was born and raised in New York, and previously wrote for Newsday and the New York Daily News, covering crime and other local news. Ms. Chao has a diverse background with family from China, Japan and Taiwan--all of whom influenced her interest in Asian and Asian American issues. She speaks fluent Mandarin and understands some Spanish. She has lived on both coasts of the United States and in China. Ms. Chao got her bachelor's degree in Journalism from New York University.
